POV DISCUSSION: Answer Me 1994 The Finale

vlcsnap-2013-12-29-12h17m11s64

So we’ve come to the end, and by now, everyone should have known who is the husband because spoilers are everywhere. Hah. Na Jeong’s husband is Trash Oppa, Kim Jae Joon. It didn’t really came as a surprise, but it was heartbreaking still to see Chilbong 😦

Most Chilbong shippers are actually disappointed, and it would be a lie to say I’m not, because I am, greatly. It’s not about Chilbong not being the husband, or being a better man over Trash – it’s more about the execution of the drama which left me disappointed. Honestly, both Trash and Chilbong are outstanding characters, and I love them both.

I thought about whether I should watch the last episode, and I decided to, because I still need to see Chilbong’s closure. The last episode is alright – a little bit on the boring side, but everyone has their own ending.

POV DISCUSSION: Answer Me 1994 Episode 20

*UPDATED with the Husband’s identity.

We’re just hours away from the last episode – and I bet both Team Trash & Team Chilbong are sitting at the edge of their seats. As for me, I have never felt so frustrated with a drama this much. I love Chilbong to bits and up till this episode, he has been stealing all the limelight in whatever scenes he is in – and it’s just so frustrating that he might not be the husband.

I like Trash – I do, but I just can’t let go of the fact that Trash was just an Oppa who sat around for the first 10 (?) episodes and did nothing about his feelings for Na Jeong. The rationale behind his hesitation didn’t make much sense, his declaration of ‘war’ against Chilbong was strong, but nothing happened after that. When they got together, and abruptly decide to get married, and then broke up because they grew apart – there’s just too many ‘plot holes’ surrounding Trash which makes it difficult for me to accept him as the husband.

If the writer had written Trash as someone who didn’t realized his feelings for Na Jeong till much later, I may have accepted him as the husband. Since Trash started out having a silly personality, it’s possible that he didn’t realize Na Jeong’s obvious feelings. However, the drama wrote him as someone who knew all along, and was just hesitating for like the longest time ever.

POV DISCUSSION: Answer Me 1994 Episode 18 & 19

Chilbong is back πŸ™‚

As much as I loved the fact that Chilbong is back, and that he’s being the awesome guy that he already is – I still think that the husband is Trash. Honestly, I loved the Chilbong moments in these two episodes, but I don’t think it’s enough reason to make us think that he will be the husband again.

First of all – the break-up of Trash and Na Jeong is…so…WEIRD. I get it, that they lost contact after they got busy but to stay off contact even when she came back was just weird. It’s not as though they had a fought or something. Sure, couples grow apart – but considering how persistent Na Jeong was for the past 17 episodes, it doesn’t quite match her personality to just let go of Trash, right?

As for Chilbong, he’s just too adorable~ He confessed again, and even though Na Jeong is thankful to him in certain occasions, she still doesn’t like him as a guy yet – well, that’s what the drama’s been telling us, right? At first the drama teased us that she viewed him as man (when he was topless in the first few episodes as she delivered a food order), then after which, she is oblivious to his feelings and now what?

It’s just so frustrating and I’ve actually given up on the husband. I don’t care who is it – just get everything done and over with.

POV DISCUSSION: Answer Me 1994 Episode 16 & 17

Apparently, not having Chilbong for two episodes made my interest to recap or watch the drama drop drastically. I have lost every single bit of hope of Chilbong being the husband, and even if they are going to make him the husband, I’m going to start flipping tables because the drama’s execution is very…errr…choppy?

I won’t hide my disappointment because from the moment I started this drama, I initially thought Trash would be the husband, but the first few episodes (almost half of the drama’s episodes), Chilbong appeared and totally won me over. Then, all of a sudden, they made Trash in the spotlight and Chilbong disappeared.Β It’s just so frustrating as a viewer.

POV DISCUSSION: Answer Me 1994 Episode 15

vlcsnap-2013-12-08-17h59m03s77

I really wish the writer stop playing games with us already, and reveal who is the husband, or give a direct clear clue. With this episode, it feels like Chilbong no longer stands a chance with Na Jeong, and I do not want to keep my hopes up any more, because with each episode, my heartbreak for Chilbong just gets deeper 😦

Maybe 20+ episodes was too much of a stretch, because I really feel like they’re dragging the loveline, and making us go round and round in circles.

Trash’s cousin made us believe that she might have those supernatural powers, but today we found out that Na Jeong’s description was something she heard from Trash’s brother. However, when she said that there is no more bus, it really so happened that the bus broke down. So we got nowhere. Tsk. Then why would you introduce her as a character in the first place? Tsk.

Awww 😦 Chilbong~~

I’m not sure if this episode give us any clues on Na Jeong’s husband, but it’s a heartbreaking episode for Chilbong shippers, but definitely a good one for Trash shippers. I’m still on Chilbong’s boat. Hahaha. Trash and Na Jeong are really cute together, and I do like their moments together, but I really want Chilbong to be happy too 😦

Chilbong is going away for a long time, Trash and Na Jeong starts dating for real and Haitai experiences life in the military. It’s full of sweet moments in this episode πŸ™‚

Not going to do a full recap, but a rough one which covers the main point of our loveline πŸ™‚

POV DISCUSSION: Answer Me 1994 Episode 13

vlcsnap-2013-12-01-18h52m41s220

I went OMO! OMO! in this episode and my heart broke to pieces because Trash finally, and officially shows Na Jeong he loves her by landing a kiss. A long one. That means Chilbong shippers are all heartbroken 😦 I am for sure. However, the game ain’t over yet and we never know if Na Jeong will still choose Trash in the end.

Actually, with Trash and Na Jeong officially getting together in this episode, it also means that there might be a chance for them to break up and for her to choose Chilbong. Maybe after dating for some time, they realised that they don’t love each other in that sense, and was just confused because they are young…and Na Jeong loves Chilbong instead…HAHAHA! Okay, maybe it’s just me being delusional, but since this drama is sort of a guessing game. If Trash was the husband, they wouldn’t be that stupid to make them a couple now right and let the rest of the episodes breaking Chilbong’s heart…right? So with this episode, my thoughts are turned upside down again, and I think there is a chance that Chilbong will be the husband!

I’m not going to do a full recap, just a brief one to cover the important points.

POV DISCUSSION: Answer Me 1994 Episode 12

vlcsnap-2013-11-30-18h45m17s80

Is it game over for Chilbong 😦 ? This episode was a little slow, but I loved the last 20 minutes of it πŸ™‚ Basically, the episode’s theme is miracles and why people choose to believe in it.

A lot of things happened in the episode, and a Trash in love is a super adorable Trash. Hah. Where did Trash hide that part of him for the past 11 episodes?

There wasn’t much developments to Chilbong-Na Jeong relationship, and this episode focused more on Trash. That’s a good thing because I feel like we didn’t get enough of Trash as his own individual for the past 11 episodes.

I won’t do a full recap. I’ll just write up about my thoughts about some parts of the episode.

This episode is loved πŸ™‚ ! I don’t know what to say about this episode, but it’s awesome with a capital A. Trash’s feeling is finally out in the open and the the love triangle is fully formed. Chilbong is not backing down, and he’s going to do everything to win Na Jeong’s heart. Trash comes clean with his feelings, and both Haitai and Chilbong are aware.

That picture above is a hand sign of “Head-to-Head” which roughly means like a one-to-one match, and it’s the hand sign which Chilbong showed Trash after both of them confessed that they liked Na Jeong and will not let the other guy win. I swear that moment when Chilbong and Trash played catch was the most tense moment of the episode, and it sort of broke my heart a little because right now, a part of me feels like the husband will be Trash and not Chilbong.

POV DISCUSSION: Answer Me 1994 Episode 10

vlcsnap-2013-11-17-01h49m35s0I’m back πŸ™‚

Episode 10 is a little disappointing. I was expecting it to be good because it’s a Saturday episode, but this episode was average. However, we’ve got quite a bit of clues and quite an improvement in plot development, I would say. Confessions are made, feelings are all out in the open, kisses are made – and now all that’s left is to find out who is the husband.

In my own personal opinion, after watching this episode…I think there is a 70% chance Chilbong is Na Jeong’s husband. It doesn’t mean that Trash is gay – because I think he’s clearly not. He’s 100% in love with Na Jeong as well, but I still can’t find a reason why he wants to keep her at a distance.

I’m still not recapping this episode, I probably won’t for future episodes as well – unless it’s like BAM! AWESOME! But otherwise, I’ll just post screen-caps and discuss a little here and there.
